2007 Angling Highlights

2007 has been a great year for me personally as I have been able to watch some of my closest angling friends catch some very special fish.

The year started in style with the 2007 Disabilities Trust Carp Challenge, it was our most successful competition yet with some huge fish caught as well as huge amounts of cash raised for the Trust.

June saw the start of the fishing season on the rivers and a new venue for myself and my brother to try. On our very first trip I had the honour of watching my brother land a stunning pristine river common. Unforgetable.

October saw our competition winners fly over to spend 4 days with Craig at Extrema Fishing in Spain. Not only did they enjoy the spanish weather and hospitality bu they caught a ton of Barbel as well as some hard fighting double figure carp and a cracking mid 30lb common. What an adventure.

The 2007 Comp was unforgetable with pbs falling all over the lake. 2 30lb cats 1 mid 40lb cat, a load of high 20lb carp topped by a stunning 27lb fully scaled mirror, as well as doule figure kois and catfish.. A side from the angling the lads dug deep and raised nearly £2000 for the Trust through our auction and raffle. With prizes kindly donated by Nash Tackle, Extrema Fishing Spain, Edens Lakes, Carp Dream Fishing, Korda Developments, Twin Lakes, Pallatrax, The Bait and Feed Company, Hinders, Carp Company, and Coulsden Angling Centre.

My Brother and long time angling buddy, gave me something to be chuffed about when he landed his first river carp on his first day on the river. Using the age old method of 2 grains of corn on a size 10 hook he tempted the scale perfect common from the river Adur at Henfield, on the Henfiels AS ticket. I was more than happy to take some trophy shots of what will probably be our most memorable angling experience for a long time.

David Crawford went away happy from the 2007 DT Carp Challenge auction after placing the winning bid on a holiday with Extrema Fishing in Spain. He and angling partner Dave Holmes spent four days with the team from Extrema fishing for Barbel and carp. David Crawford found success with both species landing some 40 barbel and later taking two double figure carp. Angling partner Dave Holmes however took home the spoils with a last day 35lb 10oz river common.
