12 Anglers took part in a 48 hour charity Carp and Catfish competition at Wintons Fishery West Sussex to catch the largest weight of fish and to raise hundreds of pounds for The Disabilities Trust.
Andrew Rye and Gemma Travell from Worthing are running the 25th Annual Flora London Marathon on the 17th April 2005 and organized the event as part of their fund raising.
Loads of the members came down to Wintons to support the anglers and the Trust over the weekend and together managed to raise a staggering £1725.00 for the Trust.
Prizes were donated from many top angling companies, and presented to the winners by Sky Sports presenter Jimmy Hill, which made the raffle and auction a great success.

The weekend started slowly with only 1 fish being caught in the first 12 hours. That was a 25lb 2oz Mirror to Colin Maynard in peg 11 at 3am. This fish was shortly followed by another 20lb Mirror shortly afterwards.

Colin and Neil now had a commanding lead but were pegged back when Lee morley in peg 15 landed a stunning Personal Best 23lb 10oz mirror using Poacher Baits boilies close to an over hanging tree.

Colin Maynards team partner Neil Young then stormed back into the lead by a good margin with another 20lb carp, a common of a little over 20lb.

Not to be out done Lee's team mate Chris Clarke put the forth 20 of the day on the bank and recorded a PB with a common of 23lb 13oz caught using 2 14mm Halibut pellets.

There was now very little between the teams and personal battles were being fought all over the lake.

Lawrence Burns in peg 16 was the next to catch, landing a nice 18lb+ common to put his team in the running.

Lawrence Burns with a well deserved 18lb+ common

Sunday morning saw the fish start to show around the boat house and Ted and Graham Kettle recorded a stunning 17lb koi to put them in 4th place.

Thanks to Graham Kettle for this lovely picture.

Then when Chris Clarke landed his second fish the nerves were starting to show at the top of the leader board. Chris landed a common of 12lb+ to put them within just 6lbs of the leaders Colin and Neil.

Neil Young with a typical Wintons 20lb common which won them the comp

However the guys held on and managed to take the win, and were presented with trophies by Jimmy Hill.
